Tol Mol Ke Bol ...

The new season is about to begin by coming weekend.  With Day light switch and changing season, I too have decided to change, new way to write blog and get connected with community members. I wanted more interactive blogging page then just a static page which people read and forget. Your comments, your answers, your interest and your every words counts and motivates bloggers like me at least to write more blogs and give some analysis.

So get ready with wild guesses or calculated one or more analyzed answers for the below given question …

1. Which teams have highest no.of matches played ?
2. How many teams have played more than 100 matches ?
3. Which team has highest percentage win and how much ?
4. Which is most preferred day for teams as given on website ?
5. How many new teams are playing in upcoming tournament ?
6. FO 2010 was won by Spartans(Platinum), Immortals(Gold), Cheer cc(Silver),
Do you know who have won most no.of titles ?

I will soon update this blog with more interesting facts.
I am waiting for you guys and expecting you guys to give answers. Let see how many people are reading my blog ;)

Dream comes true …

Dream comes true …

This blog is not related to any tournament stats or any upcoming matches or talking about any teams or for anyone else. Finally I got something to write about myself.

Cricket is what I breathe and eat on weekends. Amount of energy and time I spend on weekend from almost last two years has fetched me this achievement.
I started playing cricket in Bay area in April 2008. My debut was against Catalysters, which is considered to be one of the top most team in our TCA chapter. Due to someone pulling out at last moment got a chance to play the match. I was amazed to see the organized way people play cricket in US, especially website, uniforms, etc. This was my first experience to play in any professional league. Before this I used to play cricket in the colony that too mostly under arm and box cricket and occasionally play over arm in college by bunking lectures.
I am very passionate about cricket and have always given my best to play and make everyone play the game. I considered myself as bowler who can bat. I have grown up seeing Sachin, Pointing, Lara, Bevan, Jonty, Akram, Waqar, Walsh, Amborse, Srinath, Lee and Akhtar. In TCA, SE11 gave me new opportunity to become batsman as they had lot many bowlers. I think I have done so far good as a batsman too (Just crossed 500+ runs) and due to which got permanent spot in the team. I knew I could bowl better than I could bat. Practice and Practice helped me to start bowling on regular basis. Soon I was considered regularly to ball during the matches.

From last couple of months, I had a feeling I could achieve one of my dream (in cricket obviously) i.e. to get hat-rick. I almost got to hat-rick may be 6-7 times in last few months but was unlucky not to get hold of it.
Finally I got my First professional hat-rick in League 2010 against Chak de and Bhola XI. Interesting right, how come two matches I got a hat-rick.
In Match 1 vs Chak de, I got last two wickets of Chak de to wrap up their innings.
First victim was Deepak, leg cutter and thick edge to the keeper Amol.
Second Victim was Pradipmaya was clean bowled through his gates, knocking the off stumps off the ground.
In Match 2 vs Bhola XI, I got wicket on very 1st ball of my spell.
Third Victim was Sanket, inside edge-bowled and leg stump was off the base.
No one in my team had idea that I was on hat-rick expect me because I did not want people to be over caution and think too much about it.

Practice, Penitence and true passion of cricket have helped me to achieve my dreams. This is my story and my dream. If you have our own story or dream to share please do that because this moments of joy are very rare in your lifetime. Moreover, I believe "People follow stories which they have heard, but it’s important what stories they tell the world to follow them."

I am proud to say dream come true.

Everyday people are achieving milestone, creating history and achieving very different things. Few milestone and interesting things achieved by our fellow TCA cricketers are:
1. Chintan (Bhola XI) achieved milestone of 1000+ runs in TCA history.
2. Pavan Teja (Chargers) scored 99 runs in a match. Highest runs by individual in TCA. He was so nervous on 99 that he end up getting out on the lolly full toss, which in normal situation could have put it outside the park w/o any effort.
3. Geen and Nimesh (Titans XI) ran 5 runs in single ball, w/o hitting any boundary.

What are you hungry for? Ask your Heart not your Stomach :) that will help you achieve your Dreamz.

Will Rulers Rule or Soldiers Revolt

Spartans are traditional soldiers while Kings are traditional rulers. Will Kings rule over Spartans to capture the championship or will soldiers take command over Kings to prove that they are real heroes of the war.

With famous Soldiers of the King song running in background let the war begin between Kings and Spartans.
Platinum Finals: Spartans vs Kings
Gold Finals: Immortals vs TCC
Spartans and Kings, who does not know about these teams. Their name itself says lot about their fighting character. There is no way this match is going to be easy piece of cake for either side. on Head to Head encounters they are 1-1 each. only difference on both sides could be change in team composition since their last match played.
Browsing to their recent performance in Fall open i.e. last 10 matches only thing you can say clearly is Spartans power is all rounder performance from top 5 match winning players well supported by other team mates in the team. While for Kings every player is a match winner. Both teams have great team chemistry but they vary wrt to their game plan. Spartans are more like Tall Tree structure with roots being really strong while Kings are like Dense Forest well distributed.

Finals

Here are my findings or you can say these are my assumptions, which can be wrong J But still will like to state.
Spartans :They have very good and stable team with not many new or guest players coming to play for their team. Everyone knows or rather assigned a role, in short they have done their homework well and they have perfect game plan for their matches.Their strength is their Batting line up, which has good combination of power hitting and strike rotation. They have very discipline bowling attack well supported by their outstanding fielding. In short they have their wining Mantra and everything is perfectly perfect placed in the team.
From the above table its quite evident that they have capability to score big. Their team wining lot depends upon top performers like Rajat, Dilip, Imran, Anal. The added bonus they have is same players can Bat as well as Bowl really well. Number of bowled taken clearly indicates their bowling is right on target and they aim your stumps all the times and nothing given to batsman to free their arms. They have almost bowled the opponents out expect for 2 matches.
They usually played on their home ground, so playing on new ground will be a challenge.
Kings : They have lot of people with different number or matches as well as lot of new or guest players during the tournament. Best thing to note is everyone has chipped in and score evenly between them. So you never know which player is going to score today against you. They do not have standard batting line up nor have fix plan. They are yet successful in setting up the big score. They have great skills of placing the balls in gaps and clearing the boundaries along the ground as no. of 4s suggest. They are good in running between the wickets.
Similar goes with their bowling attack. Bowlers too have distributed wickets evenly among themselves. They always use either 6 or 7 bowlers; so do not wait for 5 th bowler to target at.
With lot many dismissals taken behind stumps, you can imagine with line and length they are bowling the opponents. Number of Maidens bowled is another thing to be considered. There is no way I can say take Wickets of Ashish, Parag or See off Trini or Chirag. Man everyone is match winner.
They have played their matches on various grounds during the entire tournament.
Whatever I say or you say, its going to be how these team play on given day.So please come for the match and support each and everyone.I am sure cricket ground will be full of energy, cricketing skills, lot of runs and actions all around the ground. So what are you waiting for kindly do RSVP and enjoy the day and make Cricket as biggest winner for the day.

Hats off to All - Cricket at its Best

Hats off to all players of SE11 and Chargers, who proved that enthusiasm and passion of cricket is way ahead of match results or any tournament difficulties or weather uncertainties.

Weather forecast
Weather has been really unpredictable this season. As per weather.com it was predicted, it would rain whole Friday and Saturday. Though Sunday look really good.

Winter league 2009
This winter rains have already caused lot of delays and few abandoned games in round robin. Play off too has been delayed by both weather and some adjustments to complete the pre-qf game in last two weeks.

Schedule
Schedule was out and found that Elite QF has to be played on Saturday and Royal SF on Sunday. As per forecast, Saturday was rain, so it was tricky for all the teams who were going to play on Saturday. We requested to Games to postpone the game to Sunday or keep backup games on Sunday. As per them they cannot do so, moreover we were told that if we want we can re-schedule to Sunday but no neutral umpires will be send. Plus if we don't complete game this weekend, we will have super over next week to decide the result of the game.
I think this was totally unfair for teams who have done all their hard work. Though for Games committee it may be just a winter league and not so important league as compared to other leagues. They wanted us to complete the game by this week or play coming week 3 matches if we win.

Backup plan
After trying our best and no support from Games, we decided ourselves to keep a backup plan for our game.  Main intention was to complete the game this weekend, so 22 players does not have to travel 20 miles on coming weekend just for super over.  Luckily opponents felt the same.
I and Vishnu(Chargers) spoke with our respective teams and decided to keep a backup plan ready. So now we had 3 other choices. Saturday afternoon - which was ruled out as few of us had to go for Holi festival in Sunnyvale temple. Sunday morning - which was ruled out as Chargers players had very important game in some other tournament. So we were left with Sunday afternoon, obviously if Saturday game was washed out.
We were confident that game would complete on Saturday itself if we do not get rain on Friday night.

Day before the Game
Friday it was windy and rained in afternoon like anything. Fingers were crossed and finally rained stopped around evening. We kept refreshing weather.com page, I doubt I have ever refreshed same page again and again in my life anytime before. Wind had taken the clouds far away. I kept updating the sync mail and player about the game status, till late evening so that all players are aware of it and be on the grounds. Till 3 am no rains. Rain started and washed out all the streets in Sunnyvale by 4:30 am time at which I went to bed. Still keeping the fingers crossed.

Game day
Morning weather.com looked really well so was the outside atmosphere. I walked around my apartment complex and spoke with captains, we were positive that we will have good weather. I mailed everyone to be on the ground on time. Vishnu was already on ground by 8:00 am and called me that JH1 was unplayable. I told him we will check TR and they can check Centreville. TR was perfectly perfect to play the game while Centreville did not seem to be like one. We decided to play on TR. All the players moved to TR from JH1 including umpires. By the time everyone was on ground we had setup the field. Soon the game was on. Thanks to all the players and umpires Satish and Sanjay to make this movement quick and easy.

Your wish is my command - The secret
Game was going on nice and fast without any mid-innings breaks. SE11 after wining the toss were 54/4 in 14 over’s. Law of attraction worked, whole week we were thinking our game might be interrupted and we need to go for backup plan. This time it was not rain, the school ground authorities came to ground and respectably kicked us out of the ground.
After lot of talks and conversation, we were left with few choices. First, to continue same game on some other ground. It would be unfair to both the teams as ground conditions may be different. Second was to start a new game. Few our teammates have planned to spend their time with families for Holi at the temple. So to start a new game at around 11:00 am was bad choice, after all they want to play for 2010 season as well :) by keeping their counter parts happy. While backup to play on sunday was now dicy for Chargers as they where running out of players. Finally after making few phone calls and conversations within the team. We decided to play at 2:00 pm at JH1 on same day Saturday.

Just before the second take
Got call from Vishnu, it was raining in Fremont for more than an hour. I had gut feeling things will be fine and we decided to stick with the game. After talking with Chirag found Booster Park was playable, we again rescheduled our game to Booster park. Few calls again here and there and all players were told to move to Booster Park Instead Of JH1. While traveling to Fremont from Sunnyvale weather was demoralizing us. It started raining heavily and it was dark due to black clouds. At the moment we felt like taking a u turn go home and relax. We continued and amazed to see ground was dry and rains had not yet started nearby area of the ground. People were calling to ask the status and were running late due to slow moving traffic. We checked the field and played for sometime. Ball was bouncing till shoulder height. Pitch was ready for the match, so were we. Soon rains started and tested our patience, I sticked to my gut feelings and decided to set the ground. Within 30 min rain stopped we got clear sky. Everyone was on the ground by 2:30 pm and we started the full 20 over game by 2:45 pm. As there were no neutral umpires, we decided to play in right spirit of the game and captains to take control if any situations arise.

Special thanks
I would like to thank one and all, who made this tiring match look so easy at end of the day. Though SE11 won the match. I really think all 22 players are the winners. Vishnu and Kaustubh both captains did very well job in convincing the players and coordinating to get playing 11 for 2:00 pm and complete the game. Thanks to players who replaced morning players who could not make it in the afternoon. It's difficult to get players in short notice but important to note was we had playing 11 on both sides.

This day will be one of the most memorable days of my life. Cricket is game of passion and enthusiasm. Hats off to all once again.

2009 season is about to get over. Do come for finals this weekend with your friends and families. 2010 season starts by next week. If you have not registered kindly complete the registration asap.  See you all soon on the ground in 2010 season. Let make coming year another great success in TCA Bayarea chapter.
